Allkidstra (All-kids-orchestra: "All children can play music in orchestra regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds") is a music education program which provides underprivileged children free music instrument rental services, free instrumental lessons, band/orchestra experiences, and diverse cultural and art activities. The aim of this program is to promote social learning processes in which participants collaborate to achieve the goals of the community they belong to, rather than cultivating processes of professional musicians.
For this, Allkidstra hosts local orchestras. Each local Allkidstra is operated with the 10-year support plan, under the goal of preparing for self-reliance in the local community to be fully autonomous before the termination of the support from “Walking with Us”. As of today, 8 local orchestras are active. The Allkidstra Honor Band (which was launched in 2012) is run through an audition to select talented members among the four Allkidstra regional bands.
